| Weas Engineering is a member of the Association of Water Technologies.
The Association of Water Technologies (AWT) is a non-profit trade organization representing hundreds of
regional water treatment companies throughout the United States and internationally. These full-service
companies specialize in the application of chemical water treatments for industrial and commercial cooling
and heating systems. |
| The Association was founded in 1985 by a small group of entrepreneurs
who were concerned about the rising cost of product liability insurance for their industry. AWT was formed
as a means for distinguishing the water treatment industry, which was necessary in order to provide a basis
for an industry-wide insurance program. Over the past 15 years the Association has grown in both size and
scope, currently representing nearly companies. |
| The main membership category, AWT Full Members, is comprised of
independent water treatment companies specializing in chemical products with application in industrial boiler
and cooling systems. AWT represents over 400 of these regional water treatment companies not only throughout
the United States, but also in Canada, Mexico, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Hong Kong, Argentina, and the Philippines. In addition, AWT represents over 100 consultants, distributors and manufacturers providing a wide array of water treatment services, chemicals and equipment. These suppliers support independent water treatment companies and their clients through research and development, special applications, regulatory compliance, and other areas.
|
| Since 1995, AWT has provided testing and background requirement
checks toward achievement of CWT (Certified Water Technologist) designation. CWT is the first independent
certification of its kind in the industrial and commercial water treatment field and requires extensive
knowledge of and experience in all aspects of water treatment. The program continues today, with over 116
individuals having earned the certification and over 300 engaging in the process.
